MilitaryByOwner.com Adds Coast Guard Long Island to Website
Customer service is of the utmost importance to us here at MilitaryByOwner.com and we greatly appreciate the suggestions and feedback we receive from our customers.
A common request or suggestion from our customers is to continue to add new military installations as well as update the name of bases that may have recently changed due to BRAC decisions. We are happy to announce that we have added Coast Guard Long Island to our list of bases in Connecticut for our customers to advertise their homes For Sale or For Rent and for military families who are relocating to that area to search for homes.
The official base name is USCG Sector Long Island Sound, which consists of multiple units to include CG Station New Haven. In order to encompass the varied units, we chose Coast Guard Long Island.
It is important to note that with the BRAC changes, many of the bases across the United States are becoming joint bases. This means that there will be a transition period on MilitaryByOwner.com as we work to integrate those new base names into our database.
According to the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Installations and Environment website;
“The joint basing program, established by a recommendation of the 2005 Base Closure and Realignment Commission, represents the department's efforts to optimize the delivery of installation support across the services. The BRAC Report created 12 joint bases from 26 service installations that were in close proximity or shared a boundary. As of 1 October 2010, all 12 joint bases achieved full operational capability”.

We have modified the description of the installations that have now become joint on our website, however, we made the decision to hold off changing the name of the individual base pages until after the peak PCS season. Beginning in the fall you will see all of the new joint base names change on our site.
